The Lance Armstrong Foundation has played a critical role for Eric throughout his journey with cancer. After returning home from the Olympics in 2008 Eric became a LIVESTRONG Global Envoy as well as a member of the Young Leaders Cancer Council. Through these programs Eric serves as an advocate for the Foundation and works in broadening its reach, impact, and success in the fight against cancer, specifically among young adults.
In 2010 Eric started the Swim For Your Life Challenge in order to bring cancer awareness into the swimming community. The Challenge has become an annual event held at the Lake Lanier Islands Beach and Water Park just outside of Eric’s hometown in Atlanta, GA. Every year numerous Olympians and hundreds of participants and volunteers show up to support the open water swim and all of the day’s activities.
